I do not feel comfortable talking to people. While my friends are organizing social activities and I would not even when I wanted. Why? I do not know. I came with many excuses for not wanting to go. But basically, I was dying to attend these events - I just could not. I know you know this feeling.
I thought I was shy.
So what? Some people are extroverts, others are introverts. Some are great, some are short. I was shy. This is who I am. Some people told me to just "assume" that I was "Accept" and be happy. Of course, the problem is that I assumed that I was - I just did not like it and I was certainly not happy! If you were happy "to be who you are" right now, chances are you would not be reading this.
It took me a while to realize I was not shy or different. I was sick.
You are NOT a phobic Social. You have a social phobia.
This is an absolutely essential point to understand. Until you see social phobia as part of your personality part of who you are, you'll never get rid of it. Your attitude from now, we must be "I am NOT a phobia Social - I HAVE social phobia. " Read it again. Read aloud. Hurler. Read it whenever you wake up. Convince yourself that it's true.
You are not "different". You're not "weird". You have a disease, like when you have a cold. And as when you have a cold, you can get rid of him.
What is social phobia?
I do not care about the definition and you should not either - you have, you know you have it, you suffer every day, so it's real enough without needing a technical definition of fantasy.
No, I mean, what is the exact nature of the disease?
I thought a lot about this subject, and came to this simple conclusion: you're wrong.
You can not measure social phobia. They can detect social phobia in a test blood. Why? Because it is a problem that exists only in your head. That news is very good! There is nothing serious wrong with you, you only have an imaginary problem, and once you realize you're on your way to recovery.
Whatever the idea the causes of your social phobia, it is very likely a mistaken belief. This is the key to treatment effective social anxiety.
Where did - this belief come from? Maybe a bad experience when you were a child or adolescent. It was certainly my case.
Now ask yourself - you're still listening to the naive, immature reaction of this kid? You've grown! Now you have a better understanding of how the world works, you realize what you mortified as a kid was probably very stupid. So why do you let these small issues be in control of your life today?
Realize you're wrong. When you're surrounded by people, most of them do not look at you. Among the few which are, most do not you try anyway. They do not think you look or act stupid. It is likely that they even notice not.
Once you internalize these key concepts, get rid of your social anxiety without the need for expensive treatment or long term will be easier.
