A baby will lead to changes in household routine and lifestyle. Your pet will get used to change a lot easier if many of they occur before the new baby comes home. Cats, dogs, and babies are creatures of routine. They are all sensitive to the routine and change seems to disturb them. If changes occur gradually, before the baby comes home, your pet will probably not return the baby since the baby will not be associated with changes to your pet's world.

During the weeks you are due to your baby, gradually decreasing the amount of time you spend with your pet. If you think that the time of day when you walk, feed and play with or exercise your pet to change, modify these routines now give your pet time to adjust. Have you trained your dog commands like sit, stay, no, and heel? Does he obey you? Does he have aggressive tendencies? You may need help with a dog trainer before the baby arrives to make sure that your dog knows that you care.

If you have a cat, make sure the claws are trimmed regularly. Cut the claws of your dog too. Get another family member used for cleaning the cat box. Did it change anyone wear rubber gloves and wash hands thoroughly after. Follow these precautions, if you finish cleaning the litter. Animals are easily frightened by the spontaneous actions and sounds of children. If your Pets were not many children around, ask your nieces and nephews a few times or invite friends to your children play some games and lunch.
