There seems to be a general misunderstanding about child safety and child identification. In speaking with parents, one thing becomes very clear. Parents often think that, by recording the fingerprints of their children and the information from DNA, they have taken all measures necessary to protect and identity documents for their children.

Unfortunately, this could not be farther of truth. Common sense dictates that the only time the fingerprints of a child or DNA information would ever become necessary would be in the worst If, after the unthinkable happened.

We would like parents to watch over our children 24 hours a day, thereby ensuring the safety of our children. However, it is not realistic.

In situations where young children are separated from their parents as well as natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis, we are reminded again and again that children do not carry identification.

A Canadian company seems to have adopted a very logical approach to help parents protect their children. Their small label can give parents a great peace of mind that their children are concerned. Jerry Scala based Child ID Labels inc. in 1995, with the intention to propose his concept of identification with fellow members of his congregation. However, within nine months, the fledgling program gained national exposure with their Recovery first.

The success of the first company takeover that happened the weekend of Easter, 1996, outside Toronto, Canada. While his parents were in the kitchen, a small three year-old boy was left to wander and three blocks before ending in a convenience store. The store employee noticed the label on the outside of the back collar and struck the toll on the identification label. The authorities, with Child ID's help, had escaped the young people into the arms of his mother in less than eight minutes.

Program Child Identification helps parents deal with everyday events occurring, not by negligence but are due to situations which are beyond our control. Unlike other programs that are passive in nature and wait that something happens before they come into action, the sole focus of this company and approach to child safety and identification proactive and preventive, as well, offering parents an unprecedented amount of peace of mind.

In today's world, Identity theft is not at all uncommon and, therefore, a very real concern.Each child ID kit is assigned a unique identification number (PIN) code, which is specific to each family.

The company provides parents with an unlimited supply Iron coded on the coded identification tags and stickers weatherproof, which can be placed on the letter everything that leaves the home and the key fob, which lists the unique PIN code of the family, which can be used for school bags, sports bags, luggage, etc.

The identification labels and coded stickers protect the privacy of families, because they contain only the name of the company, a message which reads "If Found Call", a toll free number and PIN, ensuring prompt and accurate identification of a child after a 1-800 number is called.

If anyone locates a lost child wearing the ID tag, a phone call Simply identify the child and contact the parents.

Child ID Labels Inc. concept emphasizes the fact that "children are not a part identity, otherwise they would probably loose it. We adults never leave home without our id, scary but true: there is no identification appearing on the neighborhood dogs on our children.

For pre-teens, seniors suffering from Alzheimer's disease and the challenges intellectuals, the company also offers their version of a "no name" label, which simply reads in bold: "If Found Call" and the same toll as the PIN family. When called, the 1-800 number links the caller to a monitoring service, which is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Database now contains the PIN codes assigned to families so that no danger of anyone identifying the child, except Child ID. One of the many advantages of this labeling system, are the labels can be as visible or invisible as the parents feel necessary.

The company recommends that for people who could be regarded as a high flight risk, such as children suffering from autism or Alzheimer's disease, the label must be placed prominently. In one case, the company has recovered a 21-year old autistic man twice.

This program seems to have taken everything into account. For parents who believe that prevention far exceeds the cure, it is good to know that there is a company working to protect and preserve our security children.
